Position Description:
Batavia Public Library District, located in the beautiful Fox River valley west of Chicago, seeks an energetic, creative, part-time Library Accountant / Finance Specialist (20 hours per week). Batavia serves a district population of 26,562 with an operating budget of $3.4 million from a large (54,000 square feet) facility that opened in 2002. Visit us at www.BataviaPublicLibrary.org.
Responsibilities: The Library Accountant / Finance Specialist coordinates the financial and business operations of the Library.
Qualifications:Required: The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting with at least three years of applicable experience; and will be a team player who works well with others; and who has excellent communications skills; and will be familiar with accounting software, Microsoft Office applications, and the Internet. Preferred: Direct experience with fund accounting for a library district, local government, or municipality. Desired: It would be great if you were fun-loving, tactful, resourceful, and good-humored.
Essential Functions: Oversees the preparation and recording of daily receipts and disbursements. Oversees bank transactions including deposits, transfers, and reconciliations. Prepares journal entries and reconciles bi weekly payroll. Assists Library Director with preparation and administration of the annual budget and appropriation, annual levy, and line-item working budget. Prepares all documentation in preparation for audits. Attends regular meetings of the Board of Library Trustees, and well as special and committee meetings. Assures all tasks are completed in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
Compensation: Salary from $24.25 per hour, depending upon qualifications.
