REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Library Director
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
·Provides support for development and maintenance of library collection management activities as they relate to the ICO Library, current library technologies and the ICO SIRSI library system
·Advises the Library Director on the acquisition of new materials from appropriate vendors, administers the SIRSI Acquisions and Cataloging modules
·Participates in planning and budgeting for the management of the collection, and in the selection of new materials, to include the acquisition of both physical and electronic materials, as well as in collection weeding
·Catalogs and classifies materials utilizing the LC Classification scheme and current cataloging practices, including RDA
·Accurately enters acquisitions and cataloging records into OCLC and SIRSI
·Supervises copy cataloging and processing of all new material
·Compiles statistics required for reports and evaluation of collections and services
·Works in conjunction with staff, faculty, and students in support of collection management activities; familiarity with medical information resources
·Investigates and stays abreast of current technologies in support of the Library’s vision and mission
·Serves as the backup SIRSI Administrator
·Assesses/recommends new library products and services
·Familiarity with and ability to navigate EDI and X.12 and Z.39.50 protocols
·Assists in the creation of and/or updating of ICO Library policies, procedures and training materials
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
·ALA-accredited Masters Degree in Library and Information Science
·At least 5 years of professional experience in an academic, research, hospital or medical school library
·Significant professional experience and competence in librarianship at the professional level in library technical services: cataloging, classification, acquisition, and collection management services
·Experience with medical terminology and the SIRSI integrated library system or equivalent library system
·Experience in OCLC, RDA and CONTENTdm and/or another digital collection management software
·Ability to meet deadlines regardless of circumstances or pressures and to handle a wide variety of non-sequential jobs and to work with minimal supervision
·A positive attitude and enthusiasm for innovation and a changing environment
·Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
·Strong service orientation and supervisory skills
·Ability to work collaboratively, to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and to manage details
·Attendance must be in accordance with College policy
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
·Ability to perform the essential functions of the Public Services, Electronic Services, and Serials Librarians and the Library Clerks, as well as to supervise work study students as needed
·Provides backup reference, research, daily interlibrary loan services and circulation assistance to the ICO community as needed
·Supervises the annual inventory
·Other job related duties as assigned by the Library Director

9:00 am – 5:00 pm M-F (Occasional Saturday hours are required)
